So I came across a great looking tool for drawing up floorplans and ideas for a house.
Its called DragonFly and its by Autodesk which has been around for several decades now. They are the creators of autocad and have basically pioneered the 2D/3D industry.
The best part is that its FREE! The next best part is that you can use this for collaborative work.
It allows for user generated libraries of materials to use for the building and even has architectural and furnishing elements. It does have some ways to do with the size of its libraries but with time, people will add to it. Another great aspect of this is that its all up in the cloud. You do not have to install anything and as long as you have an updated browser, you should be ready to shake n' bake.
Earlier I had looked into Google's product Sketch Up. Now this is much more extensive and maybe has a lot more flexibility but with that also introduces complexity. You will have to first master the product before you can be productive with it. However, with DragonFly it appears that you can quickly start and then maybe move yourself up to SketchUp (If the need arises).
Till then, I think for starters the sure winner is AutoDesk's DragonFly for quick collaborative ideas.
They still need to fix some issues with the site since I keep getting a "something wacky happened" message. But then again it appears that its still very new. It seems like if you create an account on the site, it responds a little better.
